One Clinton

One Clinton

One Clinton

At the intersection of Downtown Brooklyn and the historic Brooklyn Heights brownstones, 1 Clinton straddles New York City’s different scales and users. A minimalist, gridded facade clad in limestone and bronze gives the building an elegant presence within the varied urban context.

FACADE DESIGN STUDY
Three faces address different parts of the city: the harbor to the southwest, Manhattan’s Midtown to the north, and brownstone Brooklyn to the east.

Contextual Urban Design
The four-story volume along Clinton Street ties the tall tower to brownstone-based Brooklyn. The ground level is activated by residential lobby, two retail spaces, and an entry to a below-grade community facility. The forty story, 134-unit residential condominium rises above, visible from every corner of the neighborhood, the Brooklyn Bridge, and from Lower Manhattan.

Brooklyn Public Library
In addition to the residential lobby, the Brooklyn Public Library’s New Cadman Plaza branch occupies the ground floor with 26,620 SF of flexible space and a 20 ft ceiling. This library has its own entrance on Cadman Plaza, in dialogue with the civic scale of the federal and state courts and Borough Hall.©The Boundary
